A bold beginning
Refer to an event you consider a milestone for your development in BMS United.
Fixing my first bunker enquiry, about 4 months after joining BMS United. A client had a vessel in distress in the Caribbean. Everyone else had given up on helping them and the vessel had run out of bunkers and desperately needed 30mts of marine gas oil, just to be able to reach a nearby port. I finally managed to convince a barge operator to deliver outside their usual area, so we could get the vessel safely on its way. This was the beginning of a long and good relationship, which has lasted until today.
What was your biggest challenge on the job and how did you overcome it?
Having established a career in a completely different industry with no knowledge about shipping and bunkers, I had to start from scratch. I managed to use my past experience within B2C and B2B, customer service and marketing, to transform the BMS brand and bring a breath of fresh air in the way we interacted with our partners.
What’s the most exciting thing about working at BMS United?
I think everyone who is part of the shipping industry would agree, that it never gets boring – global industry, regulation changes, market volatility. Even though BMS United has been in the market for more than 30 years, it always remains on top of the industry’s developments, adapting and maintaining the high standards of our services.
